Hello - I am a garden writer who shares in your frustrations with Instagram. I have an old blog site that I would very much like to bring over to Substack. I hope to get up and running with some of my old content and add new material to a fresh site. Once I accomplish this, I would love to be added to your list.
Any tips or resources anyone might have on how to accomplish these goals would be much appreciated! If you used someone talented to help you, I would appreciate names as well. I have decent tech skills, but may need help.
Hello! I just recently started my Substack called Wandering Wisp Gardening. I post biweekly with topics related to either the science behind plant growing, my garden journals or plant profiles! I'm trying to move away from other social media platforms and focus my attentions here and on Tumblr. I would love to be added to the list if you think I'd fit in. Thanks! :)
This is so lovely, Julie! Thank you! The garden posts lift my spirits every time! I love to garden, but I mostly write about literature and parenting. The garden posts I relish most are by Kelli Pease at The Flower Remedy and Jesse at The Pleasaunce.
"And for all this, nature is never spent;
There lives the dearest freshness deep down things..."
Thank you so much for doing this! I am fleeing Meta like so many others and it's wonderful to find a community of garden/plant fans and writers here just as I am joining.
Hello Julie, what a fantastic idea! I'm going to have to get up an hour earlier every day to give myself time to explore all these gardening Substacks.
Hello Linda! There are many wonderful garden writers on Substack so yes, you may need too :) And yours is added. Looking forward to seeing where you go with it!
Very cool! Added to the directory — and I must congratulate you on successfully pushing @Andrew Timothy O'Brien from the top of the alphabetical top of the directory by just two letters!! ;)
So sorry @Andrew Timothy O'Brien after you hung in there for over 100 garden writers. I am still very impressed, so good game :)
Thank you again Julie for creating this great list. The Gardening Mind is in its 4th year here on Substack and I've been so desperate for more gardeners to join - it really feels like something has really started in the last few days. I can say hand on heart that it's the very best place for gardeners to be and there's just so much knowledge and passion out there. SO EXCITING 💚
Hi Julie, I just started writing here on Substack about ecological gardening/gardening for wildlife, as well as garden travel and possibly other subjects as I get going. I'm in northern Virginia. Would love to be added to your list if possible. Thank you!
Hiiii, I’m Gem. I write about gardening and seasonal eating, growing your own food. I’m a rose gardener at David Austin. Would love to be included. Thanks for collating this list!
This thread is wonderful, thank you. I’ve started to document my journey as an amateur gardener who is transforming my garden and also wants to retrain to work professionally in horticulture. Thanks for compiling this and bringing the community together here! Ceit
Hello thank you so much for doing this. It’s so helpful. I have just started writing on Substack about creating my garden here in NW Connecticut over the last decade, growing seasonal and local cut flowers and the general power of nature in maintaining sanity in a world gone mad. I’d love to be included when you next update your list. Thank you!
Hello Pom! Yes, love to add you and welcome to Substack! I enjoy following you over on IG as well but it will be good to hear more about your gardening here. 🌿
I love this resource so much!! I would love to be included — I write a gardening newsletter with a dose of cooking, underconsumption, sustainability, and environmental musings to boot. Yay for gardeners on substack!! I’m going to share your list in my next newsletter 💚💚💚

Thanks Gemma! That is one of my very favorite bits of poetry, and I have read a good bit as a Charlotte Mason home educator :) 🌿
Well, for goodness’ sake! Well met! This makes me so happy! I’m a home educator, too! Growing beautiful things inside and out, eh? ✨💖✨
:)
I'm a gardener and I'm new here! I also post my art inspired by my garden, in case anyone is interested. Thanks for doing this, we need a directory!
Got you added! Thanks Jen 🌿

Thank you!
This is wonderful! I'm a professional gardener in Western Washington State and my newsletter is The Gardener Girl.
Thanks Kamryn! I have you added! And you happen to be just below my name on the list alphabetically, so welcome neighbor and fellow pro gardener :)
You might be interested in Classical Roots as well! We're writing about gardening and education.

I shall concede gracefully. It was a good run.
I would add Maureen Little. Highly knowledgeable and accessible wildlife gardener.
I will look her up!

It helps to know where gardeners are doing their thing.
Thanks Gail! I will look it up!

All published now, thanks Julie for collating this all together.
I’ve got some on my page but trying to move them over to the publication!

Thank you so much. A fellow florist/gardener here was just saying how hard it was to find gardener writers on here. I will pass this along.
