Welcome to Notes on Havenwood…
where I share more of the inner workings of my one-acre town garden in western Pennsylvania. We are located in a Continental horticultural zone 5/6 between the Great Lakes and the Appalachian mountains.
Our October has been dry and warm, with not a hint of snow. But all of that can change in a moment at this time of year, so much of our activity has been working to get things settled before too much snow blows.
This month we put together the second cold frame near the Potting Shed, began moving pots indoors and hauling in the hoses. The meadow in the Birch Walk had its autumn cutback in preparation for bulb planting, and everything is lite up in the woods and sky.
