Welcome to Notes on Havenwood…

where I share more of the inner workings here in my almost one-acre town garden in western Pennsylvania.

If last month was about making a bigger mess while pruning in order to clean up the lines of our semi-formal garden, then this month has been about enjoying the order that we created in July by pruning shrubs and cutting back perennials. It was also about weeding the paths, cutting the grass and picking up the post-storm wreckage in preparation for some special garden visitors this month. And August is also the month of harvest in the Kitchen Garden.

So let’s see what’s going on around Havenwood this August…
