Welcome to Havenwood in September!
After a long hot summer, it was nice to have a few cooler days at the beginning of September and now some golden days of sunshine to carry us into autumn.
I will take you on a quick walk around some of the garden rooms at Havenwood, but you can read more about how I made these areas and what grows here during other seasons in my Garden Rooms at Havenwood series.
The Primrose Walk
First I will walk you around the Woodland Garden, starting in the Primrose Walk and ending in the St Francis Garden:

The Lantern Walk
This area is in the very middle of the Woodland Garden, which is about half an acre.

St Francis’ Garden
The lower west end the Woodland Garden is the St Francis mosaic and seat. It is a quite place for contemplation, and it is surround by white wood asters and Turtlehead flowers at this time of year.
The Cottage Garden
This garden was the original front lawn of our home, and it is now full to bursting with flowers for months on end.
Read about the Cottage Garden through the seasons here.

The Pergola Walk
In the bottom of the Cottage Garden is a set of three pergolas that together span over 40 feet. I have several climbers trained to the length of this walk, but the Sweet Autumn Clematis is having its special moment right now.

The Birch Walk
One of the most peaceful spots in my garden, the Birch Walk is predominantly white and green year round. It begins with Snowdrops in February and works its way to October’s starry display of native asters. So this is a bit of pause before the whole garden room lights up again, but there an unusual Turtlehead flower here this month as well.

The Hot Border
It has been one year since I added a second side to the Hot Border, and it has grown really well this past year from divisions of the other side. In two years time I think they will be a nice balance of each other.

The Long Border
This part of the garden is damp and so things grow quite high back here. There are many more native flowers to come in this area.

Kitchen Garden
I recently published a before & after post for our Kitchen Garden, so you might enjoy a look at the whole process! Here are a couple of new flowers in this garden this month:
Thanks for stopping by Havenwood for a walk around!
This is link to Carol for Garden Blogger Bloom day, so take a look at all of the lovely gardens around the country!
Your garden is glorious, Julie! I wish mine looked half as good at this time of year. My Clematis is blooming but not nearly as robustly and I'm afraid a recent heatwave has torched my Japanese anemone before it was anywhere near blooming this year.
This is lovely! Forgive me if you have mentioned, but what growing zone do you live in?
