Welcome to part two of my class: Guiding Principles for Sustainable Gardening
This is a topic that is near to my heart, so I am excited to share more of it with you this month! I posted part one in July, and here is part two. I hope that you will have some ideas about create a more sustainable, longer lasting and healthier ecosystem in our own gardens.
In part one, we talked about trying to create as many different growing conditions as we can in the garden. We saw how diverse conditions result in plant biodiversity. We also talked about layered plantings, succession planting, and letting all plants show you their value.
In part two of this class, we will talk about how we can honor our places by making thoughtful improvements that do not degrade some areas while building up others. We will talk about the large undertaking of moving our driveway at Havenwood while being sustainable with our refuse, and keeping our wood and leaves on site to be more carbon neutral and also to increase biodiversity!
