Clematis at Gilmore Gardens
Scrambling up trees and roses, on fence and trellis in our first garden

Enjoy a little walk around our first garden and its Clematis!
After taking a look at the Clematis at Havenwood this summer, I was reminiscing about all of the wonderful Clematis plantings we had a decade ago at our first garden, Gilmore Gardens. I decided to delve into the vault and take a look at all of the varieties and combinations that we had growing at Gilmore in 2013. It is interested to read that I had felt they were all a bit slow getting going, but looking back it is easy to see how worth while it was to wait!

Clematis 'Madam Julia Correvon' + a pink climbing rose
Besides mulching, I used to check on the clematis stems early in the season to be sure they were climbing the right direction. This is a very low maintenance plant combination! Very worth trying if you have a rose bush or climber.
